When RINOs try to sound conservative

By Richard Zowie

Isn’t it funny how Republican presidential candidates have recently tried to sound more conservative? First, former Massachusetts governor Mitt Romney was supportive of abortion rights and gay marriage…now he seems to be changing his course. The same goes for former New York City mayor Rudy Giuliani. "America's Mayor", as commendable as he was as a prosecutor taking down John Gotti or as mayor in the wake of 9-11, also is a supporter of abortion, gay rights and gun control. But yet he has tried to assure conservatives that they have nothing to fear from him.

There’s a part of me that wonders if these men are stealing pages from Daniel Imperato’s playbook. Imperato, a conservative Christian running for president on a third-party ticket, is encouraging people to vote for him. His appeal is strongest among Christians who feel the GOP has ignored them for far too long.

In a recent press release, Imperato had this to say regarding concerns that votes for him would take away GOP votes and propel likely Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton into the White House:

“I believe that there is about 100 million people in this country that do not vote. Those people do not see the reason to, and they have not candidate that they can really believe in. I want to represent those people who feel that the ‘polished-ticians’ like Rudy Giuliani and Hillary Clinton, are only in it for themselves, and not the hearts of the American people. I am here to represent the people and make sure that all Americans are able to vote. With about 40 million new voters I feel that my candidacy is not a spoiler, it is the way for America to go to show the Democrats and Republicans that the American people demand change.”

The American people ARE demanding change. With approval ratings for both parties at some of their lowest levels ever, the time is right for the introduction of a candidate who offers a new way of doing things. The nation is ready for a candidate like Daniel Imperato.
